Whether the rally lasts, however, hinges first on <strong>whether ETF net inflows \"keep\" piling up<\/strong>. That is the No. 1 checkpoint.<br><br>1) What happened: XRP reclaims $2 and \"re-enters the top of the market cap rankings\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently, XRP <strong>reclaimed the $2 level<\/strong>with a sharp short-term climb, and along the way <strong>it overtook BNB by market cap<\/strong>according to a series of reports. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2026\/01\/03\/what-next-for-ripple-linked-xrp-as-price-zooms-above-usd2?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CoinDesk+1<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The key is not the price itself but \"why now.\" This move can be explained by three main fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2) Fuel No. 1: \"Sticky money\" flowing in through \"spot XRP ETFs\"<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most direct driver is <strong>net inflows into U.S. spot XRP ETFs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For example, as of Jan. 2 (U.S. Eastern Time), <strong>combined net inflows into spot XRP ETFs were about $13.59 million<\/strong>, with **Franklin Templeton's XRP ETF (XRPZ)** accounting for a large share, according to reported tallies. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2026\/01\/03\/xrp-jumps-8-above-usd2-as-traders-bet-on-a-friendlier-sec?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CoinDesk+1<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Franklin Templeton <strong>officially announced that the Franklin XRP ETF (XRPZ) listed on NYSE Arca on Nov. 24, 2025<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.franklintempleton.ch\/press-releases\/news-room\/2025\/franklin-templeton-launches-franklin-xrp-etf-xrpz?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Switzerland<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why ETFs matter<\/strong><br>ETFs reflect \"account, advisory and institutional rebalancing\" more than \"one-off buying.\" So what matters more than lifting the price is <strong>whether inflows keep accumulating over \"weeks to months,\" not just \"a few days\"<\/strong>. CoinDesk also describes cumulative ETF inflows as a pillar of rising price expectations. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2026\/01\/03\/xrp-jumps-8-above-usd2-as-traders-bet-on-a-friendlier-sec?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CoinDesk<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3) Fuel No. 2: A rerating after the SEC risk has \"largely\" lifted<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a long time, XRP's price was driven <strong>more by regulatory (SEC) news<\/strong>than by \"technology or business.\" But in the second half of 2025, <strong>uncertainty around the lawsuit and appeal eased<\/strong>according to a series of reports, and the market responded by shrinking the \"discount (risk premium).\" <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/xrps-incredible-became-48-crash-193159721.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Yahoo Finance+1<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is one key point here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>It is not whether the regulatory issue is completely over,<\/strong>but that<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>once the \"biggest uncertainty\" weighing on the price weakens,<\/strong> the market moves on to the next question.<br>\u2192 \"So what can XRP use to create demand in 2026?\"<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The answer to that question is fuel No. 3: the roadmap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4) Fuel No. 3: The 2026 XRPL roadmap, with \"institutional DeFi\" at the core<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ripple is expanding XRPL beyond a \"fast payments chain\" <strong>into DeFi and tokenization infrastructure that institutions can use<\/strong>. It rests on three main pillars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">(1) Privacy (zero-knowledge proofs) + an institutional token standard: MPT<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an official insights post, Ripple mentioned **Confidential Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPT)** <strong>on a first-quarter 2026 timeline<\/strong>and <strong>a \"privacy-preserving\" structure needed for institutional collateral and tokenized finance<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/ripple.com\/insights\/the-next-phase-of-institutional-de-fi-on-xrpl\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ripple<\/a><br>(The idea is not \"anonymous coins\" but something closer to the <strong>compliant privacy and collateral management<\/strong>that institutions require.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">(2) A lending protocol: an essential piece of \"real DeFi\"<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the XRPL ecosystem, <strong>the XRPL lending protocol<\/strong>is being cited as a major theme for 2026. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mexc.co\/news\/352074?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MEXC<\/a><br>From an institutional perspective, \"DEX + stablecoins\" alone is not enough; <strong>lending, collateral and credit<\/strong>must be added for money to circulate within the system for a long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">(3) An EVM sidechain: pulling the developer pool toward the \"Ethereum standard\"<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">XRPL is <strong>pursuing a parallel strategy of launching an EVM (Ethereum-compatible) sidechain mainnet<\/strong>to draw in Ethereum's developers, tools and smart contract ecosystem. (The official XRPL EVM Sidechain site states <strong>a mainnet launch on June 30, 2025<\/strong>.) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xrplevm.org\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">XRPL EVM<\/a><br>In one line: it is an expansion strategy to **\"run Ethereum apps on XRPL too.\"**<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5) Additional tailwinds (verified): RLUSD expansion and stronger \"stablecoin infrastructure\"<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ripple has already launched its own stablecoin <strong>RLUSD<\/strong>(on Dec. 17, 2024), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2024\/12\/16\/ripple-to-roll-out-rlusd-stablecoin-on-dec-17-adds-former-central-bankers-to-advisory-board?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CoinDesk+1<\/a><br>and since then <strong>tests to expand it to other chains (such as Base and Optimism)<\/strong>have been reported. <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/xrp-news-ripple-rlusd-eyes-144049315.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Yahoo Finance<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ripple has also been stepping up investment in stablecoin and institutional infrastructure. For example, <strong>its acquisition of a stablecoin payments platform (Reuters)<\/strong> is read as part of a push to \"expand RLUSD into a payment rail rather than leave it as just a coin.\" <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/transactional\/ripple-buy-stablecoin-platform-rail-200-million-2025-08-07\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reuters<\/a><br>(It would be risky to assume this ties one-to-one to the XRP price, <strong>but it is clearly a signal that Ripple is betting on \"institution-friendly infrastructure\"<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion: the \"right frame\" for looking at XRP now<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you write off this rally as \"Ripple pumped again,\" you miss something important.
